Read the roadmap critically. Every new RSPS promises the world. What matters is whether the promises are specific and realistic. A roadmap that says "Raids coming soon" is vague. One that says "Chambers of Xeric releasing March 15 with hard mode support" shows planning and accountability.

Test the client before investing time. Download the client and spend 30 minutes exploring. Check the basics: does combat feel accurate? Are there obvious bugs? Is the interface clean?

Ask about economy management. This is where most new servers fail. Ask the developers directly: what systems are in place to prevent duplication? How will inflation be managed? If they cannot give you a clear answer, think twice before investing serious time.
