Spawn PK or eco PK — the split that decides everything

Neither is the better one — they answer different questions. Spawn is the shortest path to a fight, and the reason tournament-style servers work at all. Eco is why a wilderness kill feels like it mattered. Find out which one a server actually runs before you judge anything else about it.

The words you'll see on every PvP server

PvP has its own vocabulary, and a server's own site rarely explains any of it:

• PKing. Player killing — the original name for player-versus-player combat, and still the common one. "PK server" and "PvP server" mean the same thing.
• Risk. The value of what you carry into a fight. High risk means expensive gear on the line, low risk means little to lose — it decides how a fight feels more than anything else.
• The skull. Attack someone unprovoked and you take a skull, which usually means you keep nothing on death instead of your protected items. Protect Item typically saves one more.
• Blood money (BM). A PvP-only currency some servers pay out for kills and let you spend on gear and supplies. A private-server invention, so rates and shops differ everywhere.
• Bounty Hunter. A wilderness system that assigns you a target near your combat level and rewards you for the kill, often with emblems or points on top of the drop.
• Single and multi. In single zones one player can attack you at a time; in multi, a whole clan can. It decides whether you fight alone or in teams.

None of it is standardised. The level that turns PvP on, which teleports are blocked, where the safe zones sit, what drops on death, whether there's a bounty system at all — the developer sets each of those, so two servers from the same era can play very differently. Read the wilderness rules before your first trip out, not after.

Why PvP servers

One reason: the fight is available now. In the live game a good fight is something you travel to and wait for, and rebuilding a kit afterwards takes real time. On a server built around PvP the wilderness is busy by design, and rates are set so a lost setup is minutes of work.

Before you pick a PvP server

• Settle spawn or eco first. It matters more than the revision, the client or the content list, and it's the hardest thing to change your mind about later.
• Log in at an off-peak hour. PvP is the one category that can't function without other players — an empty wilderness is an empty server.
• Find out where the fighting happens. Most servers concentrate PvP into one or two hotspots; ask in the Discord, or you'll walk a quiet wilderness and assume nobody plays.
• Check how PvP rewards are obtained. Whether the best gear comes out of the wilderness or out of a store tells you what your kills are worth.
• Read the death rules — skull behaviour, Protect Item, what drops and what's kept. On an eco server that's the difference between a bad fight and a bad week.
